A Nigerian man identified as Anthony Imafidon has been arrested by the police after he intentionally drove a van into his ex-wife Bisi’s building at Staten Island, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.  The van which crashed into the building at 671 Bay St. in Staten Island just before 11 p.m. on Sunday September 22, was driven by the 42-year-old Nigerian national and it was captured on video.  Bisi and her children — a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy -— and others inside the building escaped unhurt after the fire which the police believe was caused an incendiary device in the van razed down the apartment. It was brought under control at about 11:30 p.m.  Imafidon who holds a first degree in Economics from Bayero University in Kano and a second in Psychology from the Staten Island College, was the only one injured in the incident and he was taken to a local hospital before being released. A popular book seller in Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), Calabar Campus was found dead close to Hall 2 on Saturday morning, September, 21. The deceased identified as Godwin and popularly known by many as “Mourinho”, sold stationeries in front of the hostel and was found dead in front of the shop where he keeps his goods. The cause of his demise cannot be ascertained at the moment. However, there are insinuations hovering with some attributing it to spiritual attack, others said he was murdered while some said he slumped and died. The CRUTECH Chief Security Officer, Iwarra Ibiang, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse had been evacuated by the family. “The deceased was found dead in the morning of Saturday, our people (Security) saw the body in the morning and then we called in the Police. Operatives of the Bauchi state Police Command shot dead one suspected armed robber in a foiled robbery attack at a filing station along Bauchi-Jos road, in Bauchi state. A statement signed by the spokesperson of the Command, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, on Monday said that on Sunday, September 22, the  Command received a distress call from Shafa filling station situated at Miri village along Bauchi – Jos road, Bauchi, that a gang of suspected armed robbers numbering about five armed with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons stormed the aforementioned filling station with intent rob them of their sales proceeds and other valuables. Despite the proscription of their activities in Nigeria, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria otherwise known as Shi'ites, staged a peaceful protest in Maitama, Abuja today Tuesday September 24th. The protesting Shi'ites are demanding the unconditional release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky as well as his wife Zeenat. El-Zakzaky has been in detention since December 2015 after members of his sect clashed with men of the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state. In July, the activities of the sect was proscribed following a deadly clash between them and the Police. The clash resulted in the death of a Corps member serving with Channels TV, Precious Owolabi, as well as a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, FCT Command, DCP Usman A.K Umar. 

The Church of Satan has replied UK-based Nigerian comedian, Wale Gates, over a book on the Anti-Christ which is currently gaining attention on social media. A Twitter user shared a copy of the book titled “The Game of the Anti-Christ (Exposing the secret behind football)”. According to the Twitter user,  his neighbors gave him the book after he inquired from their kids which of the football clubs they support. The author who is a Nigerian, claimed she served satan for 990 years and during her service, found out that football is a demonic game. Read initial post  here . Joining other Nigerians to react in shock and amusement at the book, Wale Gates tweeted at the Church of Satan asking what the church thinks of the book.
